Nigeria is strengthening its ties with the global African diaspora through a strategic partnership involving the African Diaspora Collective (TADC), the Cooperative Executive Management Team (CEMT), and the Center for Cultural Intelligence (CCI). This collaboration aims to expand the One-Hectare Sustainable Farm (OHSF) project, fostering economic development and cultural exchange.
The initiative commenced with the inauguration of TADC’s new private office in Abuja on April 9, 2025, marking the beginning of a six-state Nigerian Business and Agriculture Tour. This expansion builds upon TADC’s successful implementation of the OHSF program in Ghana, where over 100 students from 15 African countries received training in sustainable agriculture. The program emphasizes youth-led agricultural models, aiming to replicate this success across Nigeria.
The Abuja launch event was graced by notable figures, including HRM Eze Chukwudi J. Ihenetu, Royal Igbo King and Ambassador to Ghana, and HRH King Alfred Diete Spiff, CEO of the King Alfred Diete Spiff Foundation. Their presence underscores the project’s significance in uniting traditional leadership with contemporary development initiatives.
This collaboration aligns with Nigeria’s broader efforts to harness the potential of its diaspora community. According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), remittances from Nigerians abroad have exceeded $90 billion over the past five years, highlighting the diaspora’s vital role in national development.
By expanding the OHSF project and fostering partnerships with diaspora organizations, Nigeria aims to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance food security, and strengthen economic ties with its global diaspora. This initiative represents a significant step toward leveraging diaspora resources for the country’s socio-economic advancement.
